Fake Candidates Ė Major Headache for Recruiters

In the IT Industry, the biggest problem for recruiters are those candidates who show fake work experience in their resumes and while attending interviews. It is becoming a major problem and there is an increase in the number of candidates who show fake experience. It can be their work experience, education and references.

Such candidates come up with fake pay slips, bank statement, relieving letter and experience certificate. A lot of candidates from Andhra Pradesh have been practicing this. There are lots of fake companies in Bangalore and Hyderabad, which are making fake experience certificates for these candidates at high prices. This unethical practice of employers and candidates is a crime and is quickly becoming a big racket consisting of a network of employers who are a danger to our civilized society.

Why do candidates show fake experience? The reason is simple - they want to work at a higher position with higher salary. They donít want to struggle and grow. These type of candidates look only for shortcuts in life.

If someone is being unethical during the time of interview, how can we trust them in corporate organizations with so much confidential information?

Tomorrow these candidates can share company and client information with other organizations. These youngsters are not being guided properly and they donít know how things can go against them!

The candidates who produce fake experience letters do not understand that their actions will not help in taking them a long way.

Almost all big and mid level organizations have stringent background verifications. There are both internal and external background verifications happening for each new employee. The truth canít be hidden for too long. Fake candidates will fail in their background verifications and will eventually have to leave the company due to unethical practices. This would result in lack of respect among your colleagues and you will have a black mark in your career. This will pinch you for a long time.

Companies need to do perform tighter background verifications for all selected candidates. As an employer, you must ask for reference checks for these candidates before they join your organisation. We, recruiters need to perform thorough research about the company where the candidate is working. Google and LinkedIn can be of great help. Not only go through their website but also other websites, which has reviews of the company.

You can also read articles written by the media about these companies. This way, you can get a brief idea about the company. We have a few websites where we can find out whether the company is registered or not.

Previously, I had worked for an organization, where we were doing background verification process for a US Client. There was a website where we could verify the schooling and college education of the candidates in the USA. We need similar websites in India, where we can verify the education details of the candidates.

At the end, I would like to conclude by saying fake experience can never help you. Let us be sensible and work hard, success will come at the right time.
