Castle Pines Magazine is Douglas County’s newest community
publication. We are currently searching for Writers who are
creative, extremely self-motivated, love customer interaction
and are able to take responsibility not only for their own
success, but also for the success of their team and the magazine.
Writing jobs involve marketing, writing, design skills, and solid
communication. Our writers could be assigned to departmental sections
that do not exceed 400-600 words per piece or be assigned the feature and
special feature that range between 1000 – 2000 words per piece.
Compensation for these pieces can range depending on experience and
editorial review. There is a great deal of publisher/editor contact
through face-to-face interaction, telephone and written correspondence.
Skills include selling experience; marketing ability, strategic planning,
presentation, verbal and written, interpersonal and organizational.
The ideal candidate must be detail driven, tenacious, and articulate.
He/She must also be capable of working independently as well as within a
team environment.
As an writer, you will:
• Manage be assigned a writing assignment and be given 7-10 days for a
first draft upon a 24 hour review you will then proceed with another 7-10
days to finalize.
• Identify lead sources and obtain signed waivers.
• Coordinate with photographer, editor, and publisher for changes and
reviews.
• Interact with subjects that might include people, places or events and
ensure that all information is correct and accurate.
• Work with Publishers to plan future stories and features.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word and the Internet.
