Technical Writer & Web Content Specialist Job

ReliaSource IT is requesting resumes for qualified candidates to
meet the requirement as noted below. This is a senior level
position requiring extensive experience as an editor, writer and/or
information designer, particularly in procedures or instructional manuals
(web-based and strongly oriented toward usability).
US Citizenship or Green Card required. All candidates considered for hire
must submit to a background investigation and drug screen.
Related BA/BS degree preferred. Education could come from a range of
fields (for example, technical writing, instruction design, usability,
EPSS, information architecture, quality/process improvement). An
additional 6 years of applicable experience may be substituted for degree.
Skills and Qualifications - Extensive experience instructing and mentoring content contributors in
organizing and writing to achieve usability results required; prior
teaching experience highly preferred
- Seasoned person is important. Must like entering a new situation in the
midst of client authors and managers and "thinking on your feet," solving
problems then and there without recourse to postponing decision-making.
- Self-starter, highly motivated individual required; team player who can
adapt to changes in client requirements.
- Excellent (English) written and verbal communications skills required;
preference given to individuals that have multi-cultural experience;
Spanish language skills are a plus
Position Description
This work effort involves facilitating/guiding client subject matter
experts to organize, categorize, and publish a massive amount of policy
content on the web in a manner that promotes intuitive access and ease of
use. Support client authoring staff by advising on how to implement our
new approach to update existing content and create new content - encourage
the creation of consistent, usable, effective procedures for thousands of
staff performing complex, knowledge-intensive business activities.
The specific roles include the following:
- Substantially participate or take the lead in creating support materials
for authors. These include a style guide; MS Word templates; various job
aides for writing and publishing; various checklists to ensure
appropriateness of content.
- Assist in mentoring content authors (who are for the most part field
subject specialists) to reshape current and new content into more
web-based, granular formats.
- Encourage the establishment of task-based and scenario-based writing
processes
- Help the site design team identify critical needs and areas for
interaction design improvement
- This person would join a small group on a fast-paced team making big
changes to an agency's content management approaches.
