Nonprofit seeks Freelance
Researchers/Writers
Date: 2006-06
One Economy Corporation, a national nonprofit organization,
is seeking freelance writers to help build content for our
bi-lingual consumer website, the Beehive . This site is dedicated
to providing valuable information and resources to help low-income
people improve their lives in a variety of areas including
money, health, school, jobs, and child care. The Beehive currently
offers local content and resources in these and others topic
areas on a local basis in over 30 locations nationwide.
One Economy is constantly expanding its reach into new communities across
the country, and needs writers who can assist us in the creation of
content for these new locations. The scope of work on a given project will
involve working with staff editors, local partners and stakeholders to
identify, organize, and write about key local resources in a style and
voice consistent with other content on the Beehive.
We will be offering work to freelancers on a per-project basis, but seek
to create an ongoing relationship with you for work on similar projects.
Qualified candidates will be able to:
• show a track record of effective writing and communication, that
includes adhering to a style guide and communicating to a limited-literacy
audience;
• conduct research using a variety of methods including phone interviews,
Internet searching, etc.;
• meet project deadlines consistently and effectively;
• respond to editorial feedback to refine the end product; and
• work independently but communicate frequently with One Economy staff
Depending on the project and location, some travel may be required to gain
a good sense of local partners’ content priorities and values.
Compensation will generally be an agreed-upon flat rate per project plus
expenses.
Please reply via email and include a copy of your resume and writing
samples.
