Madavor
Media, LLC, headquartered in Boston, is seeking a creative,
high energy, experienced editor to join our team as Managing
Editor of Doll Reader magazine, one of the company's flagship
properties. Doll Reader is the leading title for doll
collectors and enthusiasts and is published 9x annually. The
ideal candidate for the Managing Editor role will have
experience as a proven writer and editor and must be efficient
and self-motivated as well as able to work as part of a close-knit
team. The job requires the ability to juggle multiple tasks
from concept to completion under strict deadlines. We're looking
for someone with a commitment to excellence and an ability
to work well under pressure. Superb communication skills are
a must. To excel, you should be equipped to ˇ§roll up your
sleevesˇ¨ in a fast paced, small/emerging company environment.
Madavor Media is an early stage, well-financed company that
owns six longstanding enthusiast magazines that are each #1
in their respective markets: International Figure Skating,
Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Doll Reader, Teddy Bear and
Friends, and Dollhouse Miniatures. Madavor is actively scouting
further acquisition and development opportunities to bring
additional periodicals into its portfolio, with a view toward
building Madavor into a substantial, high growth specialty
integrated media firm. We're looking for team members that
can grow with us.
The Managing Editor will be accountable for on-time production
of the print publication, online products and new
products. The job may also include responsibility for adjacent
titles that are developed or acquired. The Managing Editor
must have superior editing skills and unwavering attention
to detail. This position involves occasional writing; duties
include but are not limited to:
Coordinating
and directing assignments of editorial freelancers Soliciting
and editing freelance material for accuracy, readability,
and content Working
with graphic artists to deliver attractive article layouts
and high-quality images and covers Participating
in planning and staff meetings
Approval of
final layouts Ensuring
on-time, on-budget production of each issue Help
set editorial schedules and timelines
Meeting regularly
to discuss progress, needs, problems, ideas, budgets, etc.
Writing stories
for print and Web
The position
provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate
to grow their editorial and management skills. The ideal candidate
would have a track record of success in editorial and writing
positions. Compensation for the position will be competitive,
with a full benefits package. All candidates must include
