Religious Organisation
- ISKCON Temples in India, Hare Krishna Society
Devotees of Lord Krishna
(KRSNA)
ISKCON stands for International Society
for Krishna Consciousness. ISKCON is a well known spiritual
organisation that unites people and helps them in their spiritual
upliftment. The followers of ISKCON
are firm believers of the Bhagavad Gita & have complete faith in Lord
Krishna and his supremacy.
|
|
|
In fact, ISKCON teaches followers to
surrender themselves to Lord Krishna's will and live a happy, righteous
life.
The organisation was
founded in the year 1966 by Swami Prabhupada. Today, there are more than
400 ISKON centres in the world including in countries such as India,
USA, UK, Australia, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Belgium,
Switerzland, Hong Kong etc.
ISKCON has a truly global presence. Each
ISKCON centre is frequently visited by hoards of devotees all the year
round.
|
These bhaktas belong to
all kinds of caste, race and age.
However, devotees are united by the sacred chant "Hare Krishna".
An Iskcon centre can be found in almost every corner of India.
What makes ISKCON truly stand out is its distinct atmosphere of peace,
tranquility and oneness with God. The beautiful Radha Krishna Moortis
(Deities) are truly awe-inspiring. From time to time, you
will see and hear devotees sing melodious bhajans accompanied by
musical instruments such as
Harmoniums, Mridangam etc. It seems as if they are celebrating their
life and devotion to Lord Krishna. It is easy
to recognise an ISKCON follower : usually very simply dressed in a White
Dhoti and Saffron coloured kurta, with a distinctive white teeka (tika) on their forehead.
In most parts of the world, ISKCON's Rath Yatra or Street
Processions are quite popular.
Some of the well known IKSCON CENTERS IN DIFFERENT CITIES OF INDIA:
New Delhi, Vrindavan,
Allahabad, Amritsar, Noida, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Baroda,
Bengaluru, Indore, Jaipur, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Imphal, Ujjain,
Guntoor, Guawahati, Chandigarh, Ujjain and many more. In addition to discourses
and classes on the Gita, you must try to attend the Arti which is
conducted everyday, at fixed hours. The ISKCON temple in New Delhi is
located at East of Kailash and here 6 aratis are offered to the deities,
daily.
During festivals, especially Janmashtmi (day that marks birth
of Lord Krishna), all ISKCON temples are flooded with devotees who come
here to pray to KRSNA and wait in long queues to see one glimpse of him.
Other facilities

to take home or gift to your friends and family, a snack bar, a
