Station Sattal - Travel
India

Placed with placidity and
repose, merged with the melody of fresh fauna, clear blue water and sweet
chirping of birds Sattal is located just twenty-three km from Nainital
and at an altitude of approx four thousand feet, surrounded by dense
oak and pine forests.
The place offers unparallel bird watching opportunities and the ideal base
location to cover the upper reaches of Kumaon. Lazing on a hammock, with a
pair of binoculars in hand, one can spot babblers, tits, long tailed
minivets, woodpeckers, pigeons and myna in plenty.

Weather
in Sattal: The weather remains
excellent all through the year. Even the monsoon months are wonderful to
view the flowers in full bloom and the cloud that routinely pass by mixed
with the mist that turns oneself into virtual poet or painter. Winters are
clear and bright and ideal for watching snowfalls in the surrounding
mountains.

View of Sattal
If someone longed for to
stay at a higher height, take four sharper U – turns, which will high you
up to another eight hundred feet above and reach you to Sattal forest
Resort. Now unpack and order for a cup of tea or coffee, slide down the
curtain and get fully exposed to nature. Relax and experience the quaint
views of seven inter connected lakes formed the Sattal (Seven lakes)
complex.

Bharat Taal
Sattal
Lake: A post breakfast leisurely
walk down the hill will bring you to the Sattal Lake and don’t miss the
ride with the friendly boatman. Alternatively, two hours trek past Johns’
Estate, which is famous for its Butterfly collection will bring you to
Bhimtal (12 km) or Naukuchiya Taal (the lake with nine corners).

Natural
Spring: Next day take a casual
walk to Subhas Dhara. The natural spring comes from the dense
forest of Sattal. Visit the temple enroute or take a picnic hamper to the
Garuda Lake. Kids just love to feed fishes in Nal Damayanti Lake,
at a short distance from the main Sattal lake cluster. Don’t miss to visit
the Methodist Ashram established by Stanley Jones, an ardent follower of
Mahatma Gandhi.

Spring
The grand colonial
architecture ‘St John’s Church’ is also in its vicinity. Rugged
