India is a vast and diverse country with a
rich cultural heritage that has been widely appreciated all over the
world. Over the years, the Central and State Government of India have set
up many regional as well as National Academies and agencies with the aim
of promoting various cultural art forms such as music, drama and dance
etc.
With the help of a plethora of these cultural
organizations, the Indian Government has been successfully promoting,
propagating and spreading the importance of various art forms in India.

important Indian Cultural Institutions that have been playing a
pivotal role in keeping the spirit of Art and Culture alive in India -
Lalit Kala Akademi
The Lalit Kala Akademi is one of the
National Agencies set up by the first prime minister of India after
Independence with the aim of promoting India's culture and art forms both,
within and outside India.
The Lalit Kala Academy is an autonomous
organization that has been fully funded by the Ministry of Tourism and
Culture and concentrates largely on the field of Visual Arts and fine arts
including Paintings, Ceramics, Sculptures etc.
The Academy organizes a series of exhibitions
and workshops that are attended by a large number of people who appreciate
art.

Sangeet Natak Akademi
The Sangeet Natak Akademi is also
known as the National Academy of Music, Dance And Drama and is one of the
very first National Academy to be setup in order to promote various performing
arts in India.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi has been functional
since 1953 and has played a major role in promoting the different
performing arts through a variety of seminars, festivals, grants and
scholarships for students.

The Archaeological
Survey Of India
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)
is a well known institution that falls under the Ministry of Culture and
is responsible for conducting research activities in the field of
archaeology. Some of the main functions of the ASI include -

Cultural monuments.

International importance, etc.
The ASI has a series of Branches &
Departments such as the Excavations Branch, the Science Branch, the

Centre for Cultural Resources And
Training (CCRT)
The CCRT organises a number of Training
programmes that propagate an understanding of the inherent beauty and
aesthetics in Indian Art & Culture and creates an awareness of the
problems of pollution etc, thus the need for preserving our cultural
heritage. The training provided here also stresses on the role of culture
in agriculture, science and technology, sports, housing, etc.
