Mirik, locally known as
“Burnt Hill” is an upcoming hill station near Darjeeling and

The town has the serene
lake Sumendu at its heart. There is an arch bridge of 80ft long across

When in Mirik don’t forget to visit Rameetay Dara for its
spectacular Sunset and Sunrise view beside the bird eye view of mountain
and plains of Mirik. There is a small temple, situated under dense foliage
of the ‘Dhupi’ forest, considered very holy by the local.
At 1768m high are the
beautiful terraced tea estates and spice plantation that offers a best
aroma. Deep forests of cedar and pine crawl up the hill slopes while
orange orchards blossom as far as the eyes can see. The orange orchards
are particularly lush; with immense bunches of the juicy fruit that find
their way to the West Bengal’s markets.

kick start scenic trek into Himalayas.
For the adventure seekers treks from Mirik to Sandakphu, Phalut,
Kurseong via Balasaan River and Namsu are possible. One can also trek
into the Deosi hills or right up to the Indo – Nepal border at
Pashupatinagar.

northeast India. Mirik lies close to Siliguri. Mirik is connected by
different mode of transport. Nearest airport to Mirik is Bagdogra,
about 55Kms, while the nearest railheads are Ghoom 41kms, Darjeeling
49Kms and Siliguri 53kms. The broad gauge railhead at New Jalpaiguri
caters to the rail transportation to Mirik but is 60Kms away from the hill
resort. Mirik is easily accessible by road from Darjeeling, Siliguri and
Kurseong. |
