Beaches of Kerala, Sun & Sand Galore

In addition to its backwaters, Kerala is well known for its clean and serene beaches, a perfect destination to enjoy its tranquil beauty.

Kovalam Beach, Thiruvananthapuram – Known for its exceptional beach resorts, the Kovalam Beach is an internationally acclaimed beach, located just 16 km south of Trivandrum city. In addition to being extremely picturesque, this beach offers visitors numerous opportunities to enjoy themselves by indulging in water sports activities as well as relaxing in the pleasures of Ayurvedic massages and treatments. The two main beaches here are Eve’s beach and the Lighthouse Beach.


Kozhikode (Calicut) Beach – The Kozhikode Beach is a famous and frequently visited beach of Calicut. The beach offers much in terms of entertainment to the discerning traveller. On weekends and especially during festivals, people of Calicut like to come out here and enjoy themselves in the refreshing outdoors.

Bekal Beach, Kasaragod - Located quite close to the Bekal Fort in Kasaragod is the Bekal Beach or the Bekal Fort Beach. Getting here is easy by road, rail or air.

Tourists and visitors come to this well-maintained beach in large numbers and enjoy its white sands and beautiful sunset. Other attractive features include a water park for kids, and free parking space.

Shanghumugham Beach, Thiruvananthapuram - While, in Trivandrum, you must make it a point to visit this fabulous beach, located very close to the Thiruvananthapuram Airport and just about 8 km from the main city. Watching the sunset here is guaranteed to be a sight for sore eyes. Other attractions at the Shanghumugham Beach include – Chacha Nehru Traffic Training Park where kids come to learn traffic rules, a large and beautiful sculpture of a Jalakanya or mermaid made by Sri and a star shaped restaurant. Fishing is a common sight here. During weekends and holidays, the beach attracts people in large numbers.


Alappuzha / Alleppey Beach, Alappuzha – Tourists love to come here for picnics and enjoy the splendid views of the Arabian Sea! Known as one of the most breathtaking and fascinating beaches of Kerala, the Alappuzha Beach is also famous for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race -
