Splendour Experience of Orchha
"For my part, I travel not
to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is
to move." As a Journalist, life is so tough and busy. I love traveling and
with this job, I continuously travel for press conferences and
assignments. But, my only regret is that in my life I don’t get more
chances to travel with my parents and friends. I always travel
alone. And some times I even like it. I really am an easy going and
flexible person, that’s the reason I make friends easily.
Last month (July) on
Saturday, 29th July, I was coming back from my office and I got a call
from my Editor. He asked me to go to Orchha (Jhansi) for some Press meet.
I was really excited to see Orchha, specially Raja Ram temple. My parents
and my brother had visited Orchha many times but due to some reason I
always missed to see Orchha.
In my mind, I have a
renowned image of Raja Ram temple and I was very much excited to go to Orchha. Next morning I took a train to Bhopal for the destination Jhansi.
There were some other reporters of different newspapers of Bhopal and
Indore who also travelled with me in my train. It was a nice experience to
know and meet other reporters, in my 4 to 4.30 hours of journey; we
discussed and shared our professional experiences with each other. At
around 2:30 in the afternoon, we reached Jhansi.

We had a reservation in
Bundelkhand Riverside hotel. I have stayed in many five star hotels
but Bundelkhand Riverside hotel is really one of the finest hotels in
India.
Bundelkhand Riverside is
built on 50 Acres of land on the banks of the River Betwa. Bundelkhand
Riverside hotel is a perfect gateway to experience the historical and
natural splendour of Orchha.
After getting a warm
welcome, we actually felt like tourists. The Bundelkhand Riverside Hotel
boasts of a gorgeous waterfront location on the banks of the River
Betwa in Orchha.

It is a perfect
gateway to experience the historical and natural splendour of Orchha, which is less than a kilometer away from the
hotel. One gets a panoramic view of Orchha right from this hotel.
At around 8:00 pm after
the press meet, we went to Raja Ram Mandir. It’s really a wonderful
experience to visit the temple during heavy rainfall. In heavy rains, to
have a darshan of Lord Ram is an experience by itself and the actual
darshan, a fulfillment of ones long cherished desire! Almost 4000 to 5000
pilgrims visit daily to have darshan of Raja Ram, which includes domestic
as well as foreign tourists. Traveling to Orchha was, without a doubt, one
of the most memorable experiences of my life.
Raja
Ram Mandir
Orcha’s Raja Ram Mandir is
dedicated to Lord Rama. This is the only shrine in India where Ram is
venerated as a king. Here the statue of Ram, Sita and Laxman are all in
black stone. The temple where the idol is installed was constructed as a
palace by Raja Nadhukar Shah for his wife, Rani Ganesha. Legend goes that
the statue of Ram, brought from Ayodhya was temporarily installed in the
palace while a temple for it was being built. Later on, it became
impossible to lift the statue to its original location. Thousands of
worshippers visit the temple during Ram Vivah, which is held every year in
November.
