Ode to an Onion
ODE TO AN ONION
You made me laugh, you made me cry,
You went through this all without
a sigh
Layers and layers of love to the core
Those moments I savored still in store.
Hues of pink and that funny stink
I still would choose you without a
wink
Finely sliced or roughly diced
You made platters look so nice
Blame the rain, name of the game
My life without you will never be
the same
When I say the grace before every
meal
My God only knows how lonely I feel
Dust thou art and dust thou shall
return
I’ll meet you in heaven, when it’s
my turn
Never shall we part and never depart
We will live together, forever in
one heart.
