Entertainment Quotient
at the IPL - What's in it for Me?
|
|
|
Despite the
change in venue this year, cricket fans are still loving every
minute of the IPL fever - those who are witnessing
history being made on the field right in front of their eyes
as well as those who are coming home early from work every
day so as not to miss watching their favourite teams battle
it out on the cricket field.
Every where
you look, IPL seems to be occupying centre stage - from becoming
the topic of discussion over dinner to hogging the highest
TRP's this season. The mere mention of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Pathan
and Yuvraj makes cricket fans go crazy.

|
And if that
wasn't enough, the IPL has brought with it an added attraction
of beautiful, skimpily dressed cheerleaders who break into
a show of dance moves the moment the umpire confirms a dismissal
or a sixer!

While this concept
of cheering the teams, entertaining the crowds and celebrating
every success through the course of the match is great, what
leaves me miffed is the biased manner in which only women
are appointed as cheer leaders for entertainment of the crowds.
What about all the female audiences like me who deserve entertainment
too just like our male counterparts?
Here's my question
(which I am sure crosses the minds of many other women) What's
in it for me? Maybe the next IPL season will bring with
it equal entertainment for all and introduce the concept of
male cheer leaders as well to ensure that the IPL's X Factor
has a mass appeal!
